Malaysia: Three MH091 passengers quarantined

2009/05/18

JOHOR BARU: Three passengers of Malaysia Airlines flight MH091 from Newark, New Jersey, in the United States, were among seven people put under quarantine in Johor for the screening of the H1N1 virus.

They were quarantined or monitored at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA), their homes and respective lodgings.

State Health Department director Dr Mohd Khairi Yakub said the two men and a woman from flight MH091 were being quarantined at their homes in the city since Friday.

"A woman who lived with one of the passengers was sent to HSA for treatment after she developed fever."

Dr Khairi said the Health Department was closely monitoring her condition but whether she had been infected by the H1N1 virus had yet to be determined.
He said a Thai woman quarantined at HSA on Saturday was discharged as test results showed she was free from the virus.

"Two more foreigners on holiday at a beach resort on an island off Johor have also been quarantined at their lodgings since Saturday.

"So far, they have shown no symptoms of infection but we are still monitoring them."
