London (ANTARA News) - West Java Livestock Office declared dead birds suddenly occurred in seven areas in West Java, the city of Bandung, the city of Bogor, West Bandung regency, Bekasi, Brass, Depok City, and District Majalengka.
"In addition to the city of Bandung, the sudden death of poultry has also been spread in six other areas that the city of Bogor, West Bandung, Jakarta, Brass, and Majalengka Depok city," said Head of Animal Husbandry of West Java Koesmayadie when contacted by telephone on Monday.
He said until Saturday (3/3) and total dead birds suspected of contracting H5N1 virus as many as 314 animals, and all free-range chicken raised in the backyard of residents.
According to him, until now still studied the possibility of mutation of the H5N1 virus because in 2011 there are 35 308 deaths unggasn tail in West Java.
He said that West Java Livestock Office also conducted rapid test (rapid test) against the poultry that died suddenly and the results showed positive bird flu virus.
However, Koesmayadi said, after the test polymerase chain reaction (PCR) it to the lab was only four positive bird flu.
"So maybe there's a virus or another virus mutation that causes the death of the chicken," said Koesmayadi.
