Pelican rescue center sees influx of sick birds

A bird rescue center in Los Angeles says it is seeing an increase in sick or injured pelicans, but it is unsure why.

The International Bird Rescue Center in the San Pedro beach community says it has taken in over 40 of the large birds in the past month, with 10 of them arriving Saturday.

The center's executive director Jay Holcomb says many of the birds are disoriented, but he is uncertain what is causing this.

Many of the sea birds were found on roads, including one that had been hit by a car.
