Bangladesh: 2000 chickens culled in Savar after bird flu detection

Over 2000 chickens were culled in a poultry farm here Wednesday night following detection of bird flu.

Sources at the Upazila Veterinary Hospital said some chickens died at the poultry farm of Shahjahan Chowdhury in Rajashan Ghasmahal area in the last few days.

When samples of the dead chicken were sent to central disease investigation laboratory in the capital, avian influenza was primarily detected in the chicken Wednesday.

Later, 20,346 chickens of the farm were culled at night in presence of the district livestock and upazila health officers and police.
