Kabale University has suspended their graduation ceremony until further notice over the Marburg virus.
While addressing a press conference at the University on Monday, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Joy Kwesiga, told journalists that they had decided to call off the graduation that was scheduled to take place on Saturday.
Kwesiga said that the graduation will be suspended until the area is announced Marburg-free by the Ministry of Health.
The move follows a directive by Dr. Tusiime, the Kabale District Director of Health services, that nobody is allowed to hold a public gathering without the authorities’ guidance.
The virus has so far claimed five people since ot broke in the district last week while 34 people are being closely monitored by health officials.
