Lao: Oudomsay satisfied with AI control and prevention efforts

(KPL) Oudomsay province has expressed satisfaction on efforts made by various sectors in avian flu control and prevention.

Relevant officials in the province, last Wednesday, held a meeting to evaluate avian flu control and prevention in the province in last year and lay out plan on such efforts for 2008-2009 fiscal year.

The event was co-chaired by Head of Oudomsay Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Service, Vice President of Avian Flu Control and Prevention Committee, Mr. Nenevien Vongsith.

Deputy Office Head of Foreign Affair Ministry, Nilahat Sayalath, representative from the National Avian-Human Influenza Coordination Office (NAHICO) and relevant officials attended the event.

The participants also learned four measures on avian flu to be implemented in this fiscal year such as poultry breeding control system, avian flu surveillance and emergency response by relevant officials, avian flu analysis and treatment for patients and health education and community participation in avian flu control and prevention.

Mr. Nanvien called the participants to pay more attention to avian influenza prevention and control and realise the plan or measures on avian flu for 2008-2009 period.
