India: Swine Flu Causes Google to Shut Hyderabad Office

Jul 15, 2009

Google Inc's Hyderabad office remained closed yesterday and today after one of its employees was found to be infected by the H1N1 virus. The Internet search giant is the first multi-national company in India to close its office due to the global swine influenza pandemic.

Google Inc. has around 300 employees in the building. The company said in a statement that the office was closed in order to sanitize the area and prevent spread of the virus.

The contractual worker, who was diagnosed with swine influenza, had gone to Houston for training and had returned earlier this month.
