South Sulawesi - 300,000 Dead Chickens in Bone Regency


Throughout the year 2011 as many as 300,000 dead chickens in South Sulawesi bird flu virus or avian influenza. Cases increased rapidly this year than in 2010 when only 30,000 chickens carrying this virus.

The last case occurred in the Village Manurunge, District Tanete Riattang, Bone regency, about 180 kilometers north of Makassar, South Sulawesi, earlier this week. Could not be ascertained the total number of chickens that died suddenly. However, Head of South Sulawesi Ranch Murtala Ali estimates there are more than 20 chickens that died.

"The report mentions that goes around 20 head. This year's number of cases increased, especially in the area Sidenreng Rappang," said Murtala, Thursday (10/13/2011) in Makassar.

Beginning in July 2011, a total of 44 095 chickens in nine districts in Sidenreng Rappang died of bird flu virus.

To prevent the spread, Animal Husbandry Department to prepare Sulsel 1.5 million doses of bird flu vaccine. Bone Special to the region, the government has sent 50,000 doses of vaccine.
