Mataram, NTB - Department of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health NTB isolate poultry from Semayan Village, District Praya, Central Lombok. This isolation following the sudden death of hundreds of chickens that allegedly caused the spread of bird flu virus.

Semayan Urban Village, District Praya, Central Lombok, within 40 kilometers east of Mataram. Amiruddin ensure blood samples were taken from chickens and cattle sent for examination in the laboratory in Bali.

Chicken coop and the houses adjacent to the chicken coop has also been sprayed with disinfectant. While the chickens that died were buried. Others were burned at the initiative of citizens.

"We did not calculate the exact number of dead chickens. But already hundreds. And all of sudden death. Chickens that died is a type of chicken," said Amiruddin.

Amir not sure, if the number of chickens that died suddenly were due to bird flu outbreaks. That said he will be known after laboratory test results obtained.

"Residents fret, worry bird flu is really contagious. We do not want to speculate. Let's wait for laboratory results. If it's handling, this procedure alone," said Amir.

To animal health workers, local residents reported that chickens died suddenly in the village that have occurred since the previous week. But more and more in number, began earlier this week. Chickens previously healthy, suddenly found the finished carcass.

Chief Medical Officer of Central Lombok, Nurhandini Eka Dewi, said a special team is now examining intensively a few local residents, to ensure there is bird flu virus is infecting people or not.
