55 thousand tons of garbage per day in Egypt

أكد مصدر مسئول بوزارة البيئة أن مصر تنتج يوميا 55 ألف طن مخلفات وقمامة، ضمنها 12 ألف طن تنتجها القاهرة.

An official source with the Ministry of the Environment that Egypt produces 55 tons per day waste and garbage, including 12 thousand tons produced in Cairo.

وقال إن هذه الكميات الكبيرة من المخلفات تمثل عائقا وضغطا شديدا على البيئة المصرية، ويجب مواجهتها بشكل فورى وفعال، للتخلص منها سريعا تجنبا للأمراض التى بدأت الظهور مرة أخرى مثل الطاعون.

He said that such large quantities of waste is a serious obstacle, and pressure on the environment of Egypt, and must be addressed immediately and effectively, to get rid of them quickly to avoid disease, which began appearing once again like the plague.

وأضاف أن وزارة البيئة لا تزال تبحث شروط مناقصات لطرحها على القطاع الخاص للاستثمار فى مجال تدوير المخلفات، مؤكدا أن أزمة القمامة فى مصر تحتاج إلى حلول أسرع مما تقوم به الوزارة.

He added that the Ministry of Environment is still considering the conditions put forward bids to the private sector to invest in waste recycling, saying that the garbage crisis in Egypt need to be faster than the ministry.

وأوضح أن إعدام الخنازير فى محافظات القاهرة الكبرى قد يكون أحد الأسباب الرئيسية فى تراكم أطنان المخلفات، مشيرا إلى أن فكرة دخول القطاع الخاص إلى مجال تدوير المخلفات سيكون إيجابيا لحل أزمة القمامة فى مصر، على اعتبار أن القطاع الخاص يمتلك قدرات مالية كبيرة.

He explained that the execution of the pigs in the provinces of the Greater Cairo may be one of the main reasons for the accumulation of tons of waste, pointing out that the idea of the private sector to enter the field of waste recycling would be positive to solve the garbage crisis in Egypt, on the grounds that the private sector has the financial capacity significantly.
